Deflection ranges are 90-day percentiles from our published deflection benchmark. Your results depend mostly on how completely your content covers customer questions. This estimate excludes setup time and any revenue from captured leads.
How the estimate is calculated
- Tickets resolved by AI = conversations per month × deflection rate.
- Gross monthly savings = tickets resolved by AI × your cost per human-handled ticket.
- Net monthly savings = gross savings − the monthly price of the smallest plan whose message allowance covers conversations × AI messages per conversation.
- Annual savings = net monthly savings × 12. Payback = plan price ÷ gross monthly savings.
Deflection means a conversation resolved without a human handoff. The lower and upper scenarios use the 25th and 75th percentile for your industry at 90 days; results in the first weeks are typically lower as content gaps are fixed.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate AI chatbot ROI?
Monthly net savings = conversations per month × deflection rate × cost per human-handled ticket − the plan's monthly price. Multiply by 12 for the annual figure. Payback is the plan price divided by gross monthly savings.
Where do the deflection rates come from?
The calculator uses the 90-day deflection percentiles by industry from UnifiedRAG's published deflection benchmark. It shows the lower quartile, median and upper quartile so you can see a realistic range rather than a single number.
What does the estimate leave out?
It excludes setup time, the time your team spends improving content, and any revenue from leads captured by the agent. The biggest driver of real results is how completely your help content covers the questions customers ask.
